REPAIR. Learning Cultural Justice from the ABC Islands
REPAIR: Learning Cultural Justice from the ABC Islands is a project led by Utrecht University in collaboration with cultural heritage organisations across the ABC Islands and the Netherlands: Cas di Cultura in Aruba, Fundashon Históriko Kultural Boneriano in Bonaire, the Association of Museums & Heritage of Curaçao in Curaçao, and the Eye Filmmuseum in the Netherlands. This project engages with the enduring impact of colonial legacies on cultural heritage in the region and explores how reparative interventions developed in the ABC Islands can inform broader debates on heritage practices, cultural justice, and repair.
This project concludes with a public event, consisting of a day and an evening programme. During the day programme, the partners will present their projects and discuss the reparative initiatives they have recently developed. This will be followed by a public Forum on Cultural Justice, a public space for discussion that will bring together practitioners, researchers, policymakers, activists and advocacies from the Caribbean and continental Netherlands, and a broader audience interested in cultural justice and postcolonial reparations. The programme will conclude with networking drinks, followed by screenings of documentaries and films from the Caribbean.
